The Red Square
Red Square in Russian means Krasnaya ploshchad, the word krasnaya meaning "beautiful". Over the centuries the
square has served various functions - as a market, as a place of executions and of ceremony, from the defeat of
Kazan to the spectacles of military strength of the Soviet May-Day parades.
Triumphal Arch
The Triumphal Arch stands on Victory Square, not far from the Poklonnaya Gora, forming a united historical memorial
complex with the panorama museum "Battle of Borodino", the "Kutuzovskaya Izba" and the other monuments nearby.
